A Mighty Vision

We have eyes that can see far. We have limbs that can run miles. And we have a mind that can imagine a global vision. We need not think small. We need not think here and near. We can think far, fly high and soar long distances.

The eagle is gifted with a very super-sharp vision. It has two points of focus in the eyes or fovea, making it able to see in front and to the sides simultaneously. At a height of a thousand feet, it can spot a rabbit running along the field, and its colour vision allows it to differentiate a living rabbit from a dead dog. Its mighty vision enables it to cover an area of several square miles. Thus flying along at top speed of 35 mph, it scans the land below, ready to make a dive for its food. It is also great at fishing, able to see the fish swimming below the surface of the sea.

The key is to see far and scan wide, to focus on the world below and to zoom in on anything interesting, in the eagle's instance for a juicy bite. For mankind, it is targets, goals and achievements.

You may say that you are not an eagle. Yes, it is true, and of course you are not. You do not need to fly above to scan the fields for your food. You only have to reach out for your purse and pay for the meal that is prepared for you. That has made us lazy and complacent.

If we had to rise up early in the morning and go out and hunt for the day's food in the Kalahari Desert, searching for precious water along the way, will not our vision be sharp and our feet swift? And man was made to reach out for their food, and hunt for their sport. Nothing comes on a plate for us, without effort - not anymore!

God has given us a superb mind and a superb body. We can do a lot. Vision is about thinking, imagining, desiring, planning and execution of plans. It may be a five year plan or a fifty year plan. It is for you to decide and plan.

You are the master of your journey on planet earth. Guided by the Spirit of God, you can do great exploits for the Kingdom. You can also rise high in the secular world and reach the highest position or office. You can excel in whatever area you pursue, if you set your heart and mind to it, devote your energy and talents to it, and dedicate it to the LORD.

Psalm 127 reminds us that if the LORD is in it, it will succeed. If the LORD is not in it, you may fail. Your effort may be in vain. He is the important factor in any venture, any plan, any project. Commit all plans to the LORD and it will succeed.

Meanwhile, think big, think GOD. He will guide you through the biggest plans, the biggest projects, if you dedicate it to Him.

You desire and decide to build the biggest chain store for a certain item in the country. You can do it. You want to have the most successful legal practice in the country. You can do it. You want to be the best publisher of children book titles in the world. You can do it. It may take twenty years, but it can be done.

The sky is the limit. So is the price that you have to pay. You study the situation. Learn what it takes to reach your goal and set your heart on it. You will get there, as you move along in that direction. The guarantee is you and your target towards your vision, if the God, our Father is your sponsor and Chairman.

How big is your vision? How big is your plans? God is bigger than all that. He has to be the first person to approve of your plans and once you have truly prayed about it and committed into His Hands, and you know He is in it, it will come to pass - provided, it is according to His will.

Like the sportman or woman, the athelete and competitor, the runner or the walker. They set a target - at the very top, to reach the pinnacle of their career and at the top of the world - to win the Olympic Gold medal and break a record or two. They persevere, they train, they sweat, they toil - on and on, until they receive the rewards of their efforts. And, quite often, they do so on their own steam, with their own effort, just on sheer human effort. If then, pure human effort of one single being can reach the Olympic Gold, how much more likely is it for you with your human effort, and with God's helping Hand?

Spend some time, days or even weeks to pray about your vision. Pray about your burden, your area of concern and pray about how you would want to be a prime mover for this project or area of concern.

Check your motives, your heart's true desire and share with a loved one who knows and trusts you. Two together can pray and commit this mighty vision to the LORD.

One thing is certain, it may be your heart's burning desire to see this mighty vision come to pass and it often will, when you truly set your heart to do so. It will come to pass.

The Sky is the Limit

Man has tremendous potential to achieve well beyond the limits of his or her imagination. Indeed, man has yet to reach his or her greatest potential. Truly, the sky is the limit. It is only a question of when and how? If one is prepared to pay the price and persevere, one can reach higher and higher into the skies.

This is evident in sports, where records keep getting broken. For a long time, it was thought that the mile could not be run under four minutes. Sir Roger Bannister broke that myth on May 6th 1954. So too was the human mental barrier that the 100 metres could not be run under ten seconds. With or without anabolic steroids, the ten second barrier has now been broken many times. And records will continue to be broken until truly the limits of human physical ability is reached.

What about the mind? Is there a limit? How high is the sky? The last hundred years have been amazing, astounding and astronomical - to put it mildly! Whatever man has put his mind on, the result has been truly rewarding. Whether it is in science, medicine, biology or warfare, the results have been nearly unbelievable.

Medical science has developed vaccines to battle infectious diseases. Organ transplantation has been around for decades. Stem cell research has led to cures. Cancer can be overcome with certain aggressive therapies. Medical biotechnology and advancement in appliances has simplified surgery and produced wonder drugs.

In the area of warfare and weaponry, we have seen the development of weapons of massive destruction as well as smart bombs and missiles being wantonly experimented in the latest wars. Biological weapons are still around and available in the closet, dangerously lurking and awaiting the arrival of a leader, crazy enough to deploy it.

Information technology and the internet has taken information around the world in seconds. Communications is only a few seconds away, no matter where we are. Using satellite monitoring, anyone or everyone can be spied on, followed and monitored. With Google Earth, the world is being mapped down to a few metres on land.

Man's intelligence, innovations and inventions over the last one hundred years tells us that indeed, we have not reached the maximum of our potential and capabilities.

What about you? Where are you today, amidst all that explosion of intelligence? Are you a part of it or are you apart from it?

You are no less intelligent than your neighbour. You are no less extraordinary than your neighbour. You can soar in whatever field you are in and rise up to further heights. It is not just in business volume and money. It is about new ideas, new projects, new inventions, new programmes. Even if some thing has been there before, you may be the one to develop it further.

Who says that there is no more scope beyond the wheel? Is there no device besides the wheel that can take us further on land. Electromagnetic ways can move trains, even lift them off the ground and move them without physical contact. Who says that man cannot fly or that man cannot float? There is more beyond the boundaries of our knowledge, if we humble ourselves to learn and if we know that we are subject to the overpowering Hand of our Maker.

The story of the Towel of Bable comes to mind, when man put their minds together to build a tall tower to reach to the skies. [Genesis 11]. God intervened by creating confusion through languages. That barrier is no longer there. Are we back to the situation before the Tower of Babel, now that we can indeed talk to one another? The question of human clones and other dangerous biological experimentations comes to mind.

Nevertheless, man does possess an amazing mind and the sky is the limit.
